Dan Healy

Dan Healy (born 1948) was the Grateful Dead’s primary live sound engineer from the early ’70s through 1994. Healy turned the Dead’s front-of-house mix into an instrument of its own and normalized fan taping by designating the tapers’ section behind the soundboard. Articles cover his sound design, his relationship with the band, and his role in creating the Dead’s uniquely fan-friendly touring culture.
