John Perry Barlow

John Perry Barlow (1947–2018) was Bob Weir’s childhood friend, the Grateful Dead’s second primary lyricist, and later a founding figure of Electronic Frontier Foundation and the digital rights movement. His Weir-sung lyrics include Cassidy, Mexicali Blues, Estimated Prophet, Looks Like Rain, and many others. Articles cover his songwriting, his essay writing, his Wyoming ranching background, and his post-Dead career as a cyber-libertarian essayist.
